i;
1988 vegetation guidelines in order to access when enough
samples have been collected. The Division recommends the use
of the sample adequacy formulas in the 1995 bond release
guideline. The proposal also states that a maximum of 50
samples will be taken. However, the regulations require a
demonstration at the 90$ ,confidence level that success
standards have been met. if more than 50 samples are required
to make this demonstration, then more samples need to be
taken. Please comment.
5. TerraMatrix indicates that production will be estimated by
clipping herbaceous biomass. If this means that woody plants
will not be sampled on the mine or reference areas, then the
Division agrees. Please confirm or correct the Division's
assumption.
6. If the permit allowed different topsoil replacement
thicknesses over the mine site, then TerraMatrix should
consider treating areas with different topsoil replacement
thicknesses as separate sampling areas. Please comment.
Please feel free to contact Larry Routten or myself if you have any
questions.
Sincerely,
.~
a ~..~ ,,
oseph J.
