-15-
The Division hereby approves the post-mining land uses of the proposed
operation. It was determined that grazing for both livestock and
wildlife for the bench areas and orchard use for the storage silos, truck
dump, train loadout areas, and the railroad spur met the requirements of
Rule 4.16(2.07.6(2)(1)).
III. CULTURAL AND HISTORIC RESOURCES (2.04.4, 2.05.6(4))
In accordance with 2.07.6(2)(e), the Division must make a finding that
the proposed mining operation will not adversely affect any publicly
owned park or place listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Additionally, although not required by Colorado regulations, within the
Federal Regulations there is a further consideration of "cultural and
historic resources eligible for listing on the National Register of
Historic Places".
In April and May, 1977, August, 1980, and July 1982, cultural, historic
and archaeological resource surveys were conducted over the proposed life
of mine and adjacent areas. The methodology and results of these surveys
are set forth in detail in the Archaeological Appendix in Volume 4, on
paye 10 of Section 2.04.4 of Volume 8, and page 164, Section 2.05, Volume
SA of the 1981 application and in Section 2.04.4 of the Permit Revision.
The State Historical Preservation Officer has reviewed the 1981
application and permit revision arrd has determined that there are no
sites within the permit area currently listed in the National Reyister of
Historic Places.
IV. GEOLOGY (2.04.5 and 2.04.6(2))_
For a description of the geology of the mine area and permit revision
area, please see the Regional Geology and Ground Water Hydrology portion
of Section IX, Probable Hydrologic Consequences and Cumulative Impact
Assessment of this document.
Information on local and regional geology can be found on pages 11 to 54
of Section 2.04, Volume 8; Geology Appendix, Volume 9; and Maps 41, 42,
44, and 49 of the 1981 permit; and as revised in Section 2.04.5 of the
permit revision. The information on geology has been found to satisfy
the requirements of this section.
V. HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: (2.04.5, 2.04.7, 2.05.3, 2.05.6(3), 4. U5)
A. Surface Water
For a description of the surface water hydrology of the mine area and
permit revision area, and a discussion of the impacts of mining on a
surface water, please refer to the Surface Water Hydrology and Climate
portion of Section IX, Probable Hydrologic Consequences and Cumulative
Impact Assessment of this document.
