Plains Sharp-Tailed Grouse Study <br />• The survey field biologist listened to a tape recording of grouse sounds <br />provided by the DOW prior to starting each survey. <br />• Surveying was accomplished by listening with a parabolic ear for 3 to 5 <br />minutes per each of 16 stations (see Figure 2) along existing roads and trails, <br />whenever possible. <br />• All survey listening stations were approved by DOW, and plotted on a <br />topographic base map. <br />• A detailed record of listening dates and times was kept for each station (see <br />Table 2). <br />• If breeding Sharp-tailed Grouse were observed within the one-mile radius of <br />the McClain Pit, Mr. Dave Weber, habitat biologist with the DOW was to be <br />notified. <br />engineering-environmental Management, Iuc. 5 <br />July 12, 1991 <br />
