There are a number of openings already
available and mining disturbance will create many more. Although
mined areas will be reclaimed the predominate vegetation for several
years will be subclimax grasses, (orbs, and shrubs which will be
valuable elk feed. Cover which appears to be important to calving
elk may be more limited and should be preserved.
At the present time we are unable to complete our compliance with
this stipulation because we have`^ot been able to arrange a meeting with
the agencies concerned to receive their input. We are in the process of
arranging this meeting so that a final determination can be made con-
cerning adjacent calving areas. However, we do intend to monitor the
calving success in these areas as part of a mitigation program described
by Jack R. Grieb, Director of Colorado Division of Wildlife, to Marvin
Pearson (copy of the letter included herewith).
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
ENERGY FUELS CORPORATION
TKJ/lar
Enclosures
/ .'p~~~~
,~V~"~
Terrell K.
