<br />9.9 POST-MINING S9ATER TREATPIENT <br />The only water problem e>:pected to continue after the mine <br />ceases production is the management of tailing seep water. At that <br />time, the company will do whatever is required by applicable laws of <br />the time. Presently, if the mine were to close in the inunediate <br />future, the Company would obtain another NPDES discharge permit, <br />convert the Ute Park pumphouse to a treatment plant, tree.t the water <br />appropriately to achieve the permitted limitations set forth by the <br />Colorado Department of Health, S9ater Quality Control Division, and <br />discharge it to the Williams Fork River via Ute Creek. The water <br />would continue to be recycled while the appropriate studies c;ere <br />carried out and the appropriate treatment or other type cf management <br />determined. <br />9.10 POST DIINING FLOOD CONTROL <br />Design for flood control has been carefully integrated into <br />the overall design of the Ifenderson P1ine and tfill facilities. The <br />operation of existing flood protection facilities is accomplished with <br />resulting sizable operation and maintenance expense. At the termina- <br />tion of operations, the Permanent Flood Protection Facilities must be <br />adequate and should involve a minimum of operational and maintenance <br />attention. <br />A discussion of the Probable i•iaximum Flood (hereinafter <br />called "flood"), requires acknocoledgement of two separate components <br />of the flood. They are flood due to snow^nelt, and flood due to <br />rainfall. Any calculations concerning floods must account for both <br />9-6 <br />
