Crane <br />Mr. Dean Massey <br />July 16, 1980 <br />Page 5 <br />~~ <br />Therefore, all areas of soils mapped as 70D and 70F have been <br />determined to be of the same soil types as found in X8D and XBF. <br />Methods <br />A total of 10 plots were examined in the two soil types (Eckman <br />Park Soil-Vegetation Map). Site conditions were recorded (Table 1). <br />Data were collected on each plot to determine vegetation cover, pro- <br />duction and diversity. <br />Cover. Percent cover for grasses and forbs was determined by <br />Daubenmire's canopy coverage method (Daubenmire, 1959). Percent <br />cover for shrubs (woody species under 6 feet tall) was determined by <br />the line-intercept method as described by Canfield (1941). <br />Table 1.
