Reclamation Requirements for Gold Hill Mill
May 29, 1996
Page 2
to be planted (see item 6 below). A small graveled parking lot may be
left in a portion of this area.
6. The White Cloud Dump to be reclaimed similarly to the ore storage
yard. A total of 26 tree seedlings and 11 shrub seedlings are to be
planted in the ore storage yard and the White Cloud Dump locations.
7. The topsoil and slash pile at the southwest corner of the tailing
pond is to be reclaimed as follows: slash to be scattered to create
wildlife shelter, or put to some other beneficial use; topsoil to be used
to reclaim disturbed areas on dam outslope or elsewhere. If mine waste
is exposed in the topsoil stockpile area, it will be reclaimed as
described in item 5 above, otherwise, the topsoil stockpile will be seeded
to grass, and 4 tree seedlings and 2 shrub seedlings planted.
8. Disturbed areas around the mill building, including the area below
(southeast) the building need to be revegetated to a cover and density
that will satisfy the Performance Standards of Rule 3.1.10.
9. Miscellaneous reclamation tasks:
a) Grout decant lines.
b) Complete 1 year of quarterly ground water monitoring following
the completion of reclamation, then abandon wells in accordance with
Rule 5.4.
c) Remove and properly dispose of the Left Hand Creek pipeline,
the Hazel-A pipelines, the tailing impoundment fence, and all trash
at the site.
d) Grade and stabilize all roads within the permit area that are
going to remain in the post-reclamation landscape. Stabilization
may include installation of water bars, roadside ditches, and
culverts, as needed.
e) Remove and properly dispose of all milling reagents and
tailings in the mill building. The tailings in the thickener tank
may be placed in the tailing pond after the site water balance has
been properly addressed (see item 10 below).
f) Adequate safety closures must be in place at the Hazel-A and
Time Mine openings amd Wynona Shaft.
l0. Since the time that the Gold Hill Mill Reclamation Permit was issued,
it has become clear that there is a site water balance problem related to
ground water inflows to the Hazel-A Adit. At the present time, the
tailing pond is needed to maintain the site in a zero-discharge
