M14R-16-B6 14.44 FROM, AGUIR.t~NCINEERB INC. ID. • PACE 3
Mr. and Mrs, Tatum
March 16, 1986
Pape 2
story portion of the residence appear to bra relatively old and ere hairline to less then 116" in
thickness. By contrast, the cracks In the two-story portion of the residence are wider and
mote pronounced, especially towards the very front of the residence. There is a significant
vertical crack that extends from the bottom to the top of the two-story portion, about one foot
weal of the east end of the wall. Water damage has occurred in the upper east half of the
two-story portion, where water that has apparently leaked from a roof scupper Figs caused
places of the pleeter to tell off, along with fairly substantial localized cracking.
The front, east fete of the residence has minor cracks, except at the northeast corner where
there is a buttress believed to be part of a fireplace chimney. At the top of this buttress, there
is a major crack through the stucco. The buttress appears to have partially broken away from
the residence, with a displacement of about 1 inch. Tha circular buttress has a series of
horizontal cracks throughout ite he(pht.
In the front porch, which extends Inward to the first level of the structure, there are significant
vortical cracks et the northeast end southwest corners with separations of about 1 /4", It
appears that tits front fete of the residence has moved outward relative to the rest of the
structuro.
Along the north side, there era thin, hairline crocks extending from the corners of each of the
windows and doors. There is a vertical crack zone at the trensltlon between the one and two-
story portions, with a sariea of parallel to subparellel cracks in a zone up to 1 foot wide. The
crecke appesr to become more pronounced and wider towards the top. There has been
considerable damage to the stucco at the roof parapet.
The west, rear well Of the home has relatively fewer cracks than the other three walls. Minor
crooks also axial In the garage wells.
InterlorObaaevedons
We observed the Interior beginning with the kltchert. Cracks were observed throughout the
residence, particularly et the corners of rooms and et the windows. Separations were also
observed et the baseboards in soma of the rooms where the outer walls had moved outward
up to 1/4", The Interior cracking is most pronounced in the front, two-story portion of the
residence, where there are significant cracks to 1/4' or more wide. The front, east wall,
appears to have moved outward relative to the rest of the residence. In the southeast corner
room of the eacond floor, there is considerable damage to the plaster because of water
leakage from the root drain scupper.
Thera is an approximate eight toot wide opening between the family room and the living room.
There ero relatively fresh cracks at either end of the beam across the top of the opening with
widths of 1 /4' or more. On the north side of the entry way, there is a crack that extends from
mid-height on the wall to the tailing, widening to about 1 /4' at the top.
f:lproy,ct.~2eo i ea i.n,
