The purpose Of the visit was to observe stte conditions and to develop <br />gsotechnlcal engineering opinions with respect to cracking which has recently occurted. Also <br />present during the sits visit was Mr. Carl Gorky of Pioneer Engineering. <br />The Solltarlo Ranch roeldanca Ia a one and two-story structure constructed In the t 930's. The <br />structure Is built of adobe, and b ooated with plaster on the Inside and stucco on the axtertor. <br />For purposes of this report, the front of the residents is considered to be east. The east <br />partlon of the residence hea two stories, and the longer west portion has one story. Attached <br />to the weal end end sxbnding southward is s covered patio that connects to a two~ar <br />gatape. The area immediately south of ttw rosidance and Best of the patio is a garden <br />enclosed by a low adobe wall. Based on photographs observed at your residence taken of the <br />home In the 1930's, this wall was pert of the residence In the t 930's. <br />The residence has been inspected previously by reaidentlal inspectors, and structural, <br />gsoteChnlcal and mining engineers. A Ilst of reports of these inspections that we have <br />reviewed Is attached. <br />Extarbr Obsarwdons <br />We observed the residence bsglnnlnp with the south side, and then proceeding to the east. <br />north end west aides. There are a number of cracks visible in the exterior surface of the <br />south face of the building. The Cracks era distinct-y different at the single story west portion <br />than at the two-story east portion.
