• SPRINGS
Flow rate measurements are to be collected at the locations indicated on
Table 2. Most of the measurements are to be taken with a cutthroat flume.
The cutthroat flume is portable and easily changed from a 1 inch throat
flume (1.5 to 125 gpm) to a 4 inch throut flume (10 to 500 gpm).
Procedures for using the flume are presented in Appendix C.1 and C.2. For
flows less than 1.5 gpm the flow may be measured using the procedure
outlined in Appendix C.3.
Water quality samples are to be collected at the intervals indicated on
Table 2. The number and type of bottles and the type of field
measurements for each sampling are indicated on Tables 5 to 11. The water
samples are to be collected as described in Appendix B.3. If there is no
flow at a spring, no sample is to be taken. Samples must not be taken
from standing water at a spring site. Also, the water quality sampling
should be performed prior to measuring the flow.
STREAMS
Staff gage readings are to be taken at the locations indicated on Table 3.
Procedures for using the staff gage are presented in Appendix C.1.
Water quality samples are to be collected at the intervals indicated on
Table 3. The number and type of bottles and the type of field
measurements for each sampling are indicated on Tables 5 to 11. The water
samples are to be collected as described in Appendix 6.3. If there is no
flow at a stream station, no sample is to be taken. Samples must not be
taken from standing water at a stream site.
NPDES DISCHARGE POINTS
Flow rate measurements, are to be collected at the locations indicated on
Table 4. The measurements are to be taken from the permanently installed
flow measuring devices. These are V-notch weirs, Parshall flumes and/or
flow meters. The procedures for measuring flows at the weirs and flumes
are presented in Appendix C.1 and C.2. The total flow amount shown on the
flow meter is recorded at locations with flow meters.

4
