INTRODUCTION <br />Cyprus Empire Corporation (CEC) operates the Eagle No. 5 Mine Complex near <br />Craig, Colorado. The mine produces coal from the E and F coal seams of <br />the Williams Fork Formation bf Cretaceous Age. The mine portals are <br />located adjacent to the west side of the Williams Fork River flood plain <br />and on the hill slope on the east side of the Williams Fork River. <br />Hydrologic monitoring is carried out at the mine in order to meet <br />requirements of the NPDES permit and to meet the stipulations in the <br />mining permit issued by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division. <br />Most monitoring is performed by CEC personnel. Samples are collected from <br />and water level and/or flow measurements made at wells, springs, streams, <br />and NPDES discharge points. <br />This manual provides information to be used by the CEC personnel who <br />collect the samples. All sample collection personnel should be familiar <br />with the manual and should have the manual with them for reference during <br />sampling. <br />~~ <br />LJ <br />1 <br />
