Mr. Daniel I. Hernandez
• .July 12, 1993
Page 2
_ ~ ~_~-~r
;_-4~,`,
`: w
subject to the same hydrostatic conditions that have existed since it was
built approximately 60 years ago. The same fields are being irrigated and
no new water is being evidenced in or near the house. The sump pit has
traditionally always flowed more water during irrigation season that
charges the strata under the house as it has done for 60 years. No
cracks or movement evidenced themselves until underground mining commenced
recently.
3. It is my understanding that the adobe house of Mr. Joe Chavez,
which i_s located about 100 yards North of my house, is also evidencing
heavy cracking of recent origin.
4. What factual basis do we have for the location and extent of the
underground operations other than Basin-Wyoming's representations? Their
previous representations have proven that they have no allegiance to the
truth so please explain why anything they say should be afforded the
dignity of presuming that it is truthful? Are you sure of the actual
location and extent of the underground digging? .
VEGETATION DAMAGE____._
_It seems_like.we are getting a real stall-job here. There seems to
be no doubt that our vegetation around the exhaust shaft was being killed
by something that was coming out of the shaft and we are now many months
down the trail and the buck is still being passed around.
The bottom line is that my fine old adobe house survived 60 years
without damage and nothing in the valley has changed except underground
mining under or close to the house and now the house is showing recent and
severe damage so it is obvious what the logical concl~ision is as to the
reason why this is occurring.
We will furnish the other requested informat].on shortly.
Very truly yours,
JIM TATUM D sOC TES
J n Ta um
JT\dbl
;ti'.'.
r tr'.f4 '
