BOX 228
August 31, 1981
Mr. Tom Gillis
Reclamation Specialist
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Subject: Surface Runoff Controls
Dear Tom:
RECEIVED
SEP 0 3 1931
MINED L4ND RFCIMIATIONCOA1:
COLO, DEPT, p~ 1~~~.L RESOURCF$
This letter confirms our pleasant verbal agreement between GEC Minerals,
Inc. and the State MLRD on August 28, 1981, regarding the ways GEC intends
to carry out for reclamation as well as erosion controls as soon as the
weather permits.
The following are the agreement for each specific areas of concern,
they are:
-Gully type of erosions at the East side slope of reclaimed area: GEC
will place riprap rock in those existing gullies all the way from upper
collecting ditch down to Dam B area, and their surroundings.
-Upper collf'ction ditch: A bank to be built up over the north end of this
specific ditch to physically separate the disturbed area from the un-
disturbed area and the upper portion of the undisturbed area will have to
be smoothed our to increase the slope length-the soil loss per unit area
generally increased substantialy as slope length increases.
-Clean up sediments: The sediments of all the dams except temporary dam,
need to be cleaned up as soon as possible. September 30, 1981 has been a
tentative deadline set up for GEC s clean up plan. Any/all parts of the
sediments cannot be re-used as a backfilling material for topsoil replace-
ment unless complete chemical analysis report showing favorable for top-
soiling.
Should you have any questions concerning the above, please let me know.
ince ly your ,
L .
