The subject property is a vacant 42.7 acre parcel that is
located at the southeast corner of 132nd and Nome in parts of
Sections 25 and 26, T1S, R67W. The property presently is used
for irrigated farm production.
The property slopes north-northwest with the low point being a-
long the west boundary of the property at Nome Street approxi-
mately 450 feet south of the intersection of 132nd and Nome.
There are no dams, impoundment, or stream channel areas on the
property, and. the property is not within any designated 100 year
floodplain. The nearest designated floodplains is the South
Platte to the west and Second Creek to the northeast. In terms
of off-site drainage on to this property it appears there is very
little as US 85 to the east acts as a barrier of flow from that
direction, and the property to the south is being contoured so
as not to drain onto this property. Two small irrigation lateral
ditches cross the property, one along the north side and one
i
along the south. The one on the south serves this property and
the one on the north conveys irrigation water under 132nd to an
irrigated farm on the north.
Drainage During Mining
The proposal is to mine the property using the wet pit method.
However, it is anticipated that the water table will not be
encountered until the mining has progressed some 20 feet below --
the existing surface level. The operator has proposed mining in
such a way as to insure all drainage water in the mining area
flows into the excavated pit. This will effectively control
storm runoff, but care should also be taken to insure the exist-
ing irrigation ditch on the north is not blocked or disturbed.
•
•
•
•
GUEST CONSULTING
