Phase Nc Summary No. 15 Page 2 043-2170
Ames continued excavation of the Phase IVc Anchor trench on the eastern section of the VLF. Ames
excavated approximately 150 feet of anchor trench in preparation of geomembrane installation during
this reporting period.
Ames continued production of bentonite-amended SLF at the screen plant and pug mill located above
the Ames materials yazd. Ames also continued producfion of Drain Cover Fill (DCF) material at the
screen plant by the secondary crusher.
Poly-Flex continued deployment of 80-mil single-sided textured LLDPE geomembrane in the Phase
IVc OSA. Geomembrane was installed in the Phase IVc OSA on the south facing slope of Raven Hill
downward to the Phase IVb/IVc tie-in. Poly-Flex deployed 80-mil single-sided textured LLDPE
geomembrane over an azea of approximately 155,038 square feet in the Phase IVc OSA during this
reporting period. Geomembrane panels C-658 through C-705 were deployed, seamed, and tested by
Poly-Flex. Destructive fusion and extrusion seam samples DFc-235 through DFc-251 and DXc-22
through DXc-25 were mazked and removed. Destructive fusion and extrusion seam peel and sheaz
testing on samples DFc-214 through DFc-224, DFc-227 through DFc-235 and DXc-22 through DXc-25
were performed and passed per project specification.
Ames continued hauling, placement and grading of DCF material into the Phase Nc OSA in the central
and eastern sections of the VLF, Raven Hill area. Ames placed DCF material and High Volume
Solution Collection (HVSC) piping per the project plans onto approved geomembrane panels.
A map of the area worked during this reporting period is provided in Attachment C.
Field Monitoring and Testing Activities
Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase fVc earthworks. All constmction
materials and soil materials placed were verified as suitable, and construction methods were in
accordance with project specifications.
Golder observed the excavaton and construction of the LDT in the Phase fVc VLF for trench
dimensions (1' wide by 1' deep), slope, and materials used.
Golder observed excavation of the Phase IVc anchor trench for proper location, dimension (2' wide by
3' deep) and maintenance prior to geomembrane deployment. Anchor trench excavation met or
exceeded the requirements of the specification.
Golder observed placement, compaction, and moisture conditioning of SLF in the Phase IVc OSA for
subgrade prepazation, thickness, compaction, moisture-content, and materials used. The Golder CQA
Earthworks Monitor performed thirteen nuclear moisture-density tests (SLNc-189 throw SLNc-201)
and performed three nucleaz moisture-density retests on SLF that required reworking (SLNc-195a,
SLNc-196a, and SLNc-197a). Field test results aze presented in Attachment B.
PMSe IVC ISAUgusi l5-AUgutt 212W4 Golder Associates inc.
