Uperations Description - Rules 2.05.2, 2.05.3(1}, 2.05.3(2) <br />n A.b <br />The general description of the mining operations and facilities for this <br />permit term has been reviev+erJ by the Uivision for compliance with the <br />Regulations. Information describing the operatiori~nay be found under <br />Tab. 12 Volwne IV. <br />The applicant intends to mine coal at a maximum production rate of <br />100,000 tons per year during this permit term, using area strip mining <br />techniques. The primary earth moving machinery 'will consist of two five <br />cubic yard draglines, plus assoicated support machinery. Coal will be <br />ripped and piled using tracked bulldozers and loaded into higho-+ay coal <br />haulers by front-end loaders. The total nwnber of acres of land <br />anticipated to be disturbed over the life of the mine is l7U acres. <br />Two coal seams will be removed by the operation. The Upper and Lower <br />Dakota Coal seams which dip 1-2° to the southarest. Total combined <br />thickness of the coal seams averages 9 feet but may vary from 7.5 feet to <br />11.2 feet. The Upper Dakota Coal seam lies approximately 5U feet below <br />the surface, and is separated from the Lorrer Dakota seam by 7 feet of <br />interburden. <br />XV. Coal Processin 4Jaste and Non-coal Processin Waste - Rules <br />2.05.3 8 2.05.4 2 f 4.10 and a.17 <br />Information regarding non-coal processing waste is found in Tab. 12, <br />Volume IU. Disposal of all nun-coal processing wastes is in a designated <br />spot in ttte permit area. There are no coal processing facilities on the <br />hlucla 14ine Permit area, therefore the requirements regarding those are <br />non-applicable. <br />XVI. (•tine Facilities, Coal Handling Structures, Support Facilities- <br />o,~t~- ~ nc Tl ~ rail ~.,~ n nn <br />The mine facilities, and support facilities information is found in Tab. <br />12, Volume IV. There are no coal handling structures since all coal is <br />trucked directly to the power plant. <br />XV1I. Roads - Rules "L.U5.3(31, and 4.03 <br />The application presents designs and a discussion of mine roads in Volume <br />II, Appendix 7-1 and in Volume I11 Section 1'C. The application discusses <br />location, design and construction, drainage, surfacing, maintenance and <br />reclamation. <br />
