Mrs. Dana Prijatel -2- October 4, 1994
It is also unknown when the expected lowering of the water table on your property will become
apparent. Monitoring wells within the permit boundary, which is one mile to the south of your
property, will provide some insight into if the drawdown predictions are reliable and when such
drnwdowns can be expected for areas outside the permit boundary. Eventually, after mining
ceases and the underground workings are allowed to flood, the depressed water table will be
restored.
Fourth, if the two springs on your property are shown to have been degraded or destroyed by
mining operations at the Golden Eagle Mine, then the issue of mitigation becomes relevant. The
Division would have to determine if the mining operations caused the damage and if the mining
company is liable for the damage. This determination would depend, in part, upon the use of the
springs in question.
If you have any questions, please call me.
Sincerely,
sep J.
