STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
Department o(Natural Resources
1313 Shemsan 51., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Phone: (303)866-356>
FAX: (303)872-8106
DATE: February 15, 1994
MEMORANDUM
TO: Bob Nondorf, Division of Purchasing
FROM: Maggie Van Cleef ,~rl~
~~
RE: GEC East Pit Coal Reclamation Project
RN-MINES-322
~~ ,b
tip
0
~ ~9T6 ~
Roy Romer
Governor
Michel B. long
Division Director
The GEC/East Pit Project was awarded to the low bidder, Colorado West Leasing, for the
revised amount of $350,252.52. A bid revised schedule for use when you issue the Purchase
Order is attached.
As you know, reclamation of the GEC mine is funded from a forfeited reclamation bond
posted by the operator under their mining permit. Thus, limited funds are available for
construction. Reclamation of the site was bid under two separate projects: the Orphan Pit
project was managed by Erica Crosby of the Coal Program, and the East Pit is being
managed by the Inactive Mine Program. Since reclamation of the Orphan Pit is not yet
complete, the total dollar amount for reclamation of the East Pit is not yet known. The
revised amount awarded represents the amount we can requisition for the East Pit at this
time.
The revised amount was arrived at by deleting Bid Items 17 and 18, equipment rental of a
Loader and a dump truck, respectively. This eliminated $1920.00 from the bid total of
$365,172.52. The additional $13,000.00 was eliminated from the bid total by reducing Bid
Item 14c, Revegetation, Mulching and Crimping, from 75 acres to 10 acres.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me.
