RALSTON QUARRY ANNUAL REPORT
July 24, 1988
Start Crushing Date: May 26, 1976. The installation and fabrication of
the portable crushing equipment continues to be updated, but remains much
the same as in the past except for the following noted crushing equipment
changes:
A 988B Caterpillar wheel loader continues to feed the primary crusher.
This loading tool has helped minimize fugitive dust generated by one
previous larger machine rapidly crossing the quarry floor feeding the
primary crusher.
A triple deck 6' by 20' portable screen is being used to improve chip
production. This addition last year gives us better screening capacity,
reducing material tonnages throughout the crushing circuit and thereby
reducing fugitive dust. Furthermore, we have gone one step further and
installed state of the art (rubber coated screen cloth) screening materials
to further reduce fugitive dust. This new material allows more water to be
used in our dust suppression system and not create a buildup of material
due to this additional moisture.
The major relocation of the primary Baxter Jaw Crusher eluded to in a
previous annual report has helped tremendously in expediting production, as
well as reducing floor fugitive dust. The points mentioned therein still
apply. References to portability, dust suppressions, water storage and
additional ground conveyor are still applicable.
The previous installation and extension of the additional ground conveyor
from the rock extraction point to the primary jaw crusher continues to pay
dividends. This equipment upgrade has all but eliminated fugitive dust
generated from the floor of the quarry by wheel loaders feeding the jaw
crusher. Additionally, this new facility has enabled production and
efficiency to increase, thereby reducing overall running operations and
reducing potential difficulties.
Earlier this spring, we installed some of the same type (above mentioned)
rubber screen cloth in our east 6' x 16' screen deck. This has proven to
be most helpful in abating fugitive dust (as previously explained) in, on
and around this area of our main crusher.
Securitv Fencing, Roads, Pit Configuration: Asphalt Paving Co. continues
to comply with Exhibit A of our application to the Jefferson County Board
of Adjustments as it relates to fencing. As previously noted, the north
p1t boundary fencing was moved and reset at a location further north from
the stripping of our rock removal operations. This fence relocation was as
indicated in the 1985 report. The entire perimeter of all the mining
operation remains fenced and secured and is subject to constant patrol to
insure no breakage in the fencing perimeter.
