REFUSE PILE MONITORING WELLS
a. MONTHLY MONITORING OF WATER LEVELS (ALL WELLS).
b. MONTHLY FIELD MEASUREMENTS OF pH, ELECTRO-CONDUCTIVITY AND
TEMPERATURE (ALL WELLS).
c. WATER QUALITY ANALYSES IN JUNE AND OCTOBER OF EACH YEAR FOR
PARAMETERS LISTED ON ATTACHMENT B TO THIS DOCUMENT. QUALITY ANALYSES
MAY BE LIMITED TO WELLS R-1 AND R-6.
SEDIMENT POND PIEZOMETER WELLS
a. MONTHLY MEASUREMENT OF WATER LEVELS.
b. QUARTERLY MEASUREMENTS OF FIELD pH, ELECTRO-CONDUCTIVITY, AND
TEMPERATURE.
MINE INFLOW AND DISCHARGE MONTIORING
INFLOWS
1. MEASURE FLOW RATE FOR EACH MINE EXCEEDING .5 GPM INFLOW IN JUNE
OF EACH YEAR.
2. MONITOR EACH INFLOW FOR FIELD pH, ELECTRO-CONDUCTIVITY, AND
TEMPERATURE IN JUNE OF EACH YEAR.
3. MAINTAIN CONTINUOUS RECORD OF FLOWS FROM THE ABANDONED MINE
WORKINGS (MONTHLY FLOW METER READING).
DISCHARGES
1. CONTINUOUS RECORD OF MINE WATER DISCHARGE FLOWS (WEEKLY FLOW
METER READING).
2. MONTHLY MEASUREMENTS OF FIELD pH, ELECTRO-CONDUCTIVITY, AND
TEMPERATURE.
3. QUARTERLY WATER QUALITY ANALYSES FOR PARAMETERS LISTED ON
ATTACHMENT B OF THIS DOCUMENT.
The monitoring program outlined above requires limited water quality analyses
for deep rock aquifer wells and alluvial wells. All data collected on a
monthly or quarterly basis is to be submitted quarterly to the Division.
Monitoring of inflows and discharge quality and quantity will allow refinement
of the modeling projections made by the applicant (see Section IX of this
document). There is no apparent potential for water quality impacts to the
surficial or bedrock aquifers until after cessation of mining when the mine
workings fill with water and begin to discharge into the coal seams and the
surficiai aquifer through the subcrop.
The following stipulations are necessary to assure analysis sufficient to
verify the projections made in the application, and in the Probable Hydrologic
Consequences and Alluvial Valley Floors sections of this document.
Stipulation No. 5
THE PERMITTEE WILL SUBMIT A REVISED MINE INFLOW MAP SIMILAR TO MAP 6 OF
VOLUME 8 ANNUALLY. THE MAP IS TO BE SUBMITTED BY DECEMBER 1 OF EACH
YEAR. THE 1963 MAP IS TO BE SUBMITTED WITHIN 60 DAYS OF PERMIT ISSUANCE.
_lg_
