This progress report partially satisfies
requirements set forth in Stipulation #31 of the Edna Mine Permit
(C-80-001) for yearly reporting, by October 31 of each year, until
project completion.
This report notes progress on the project up to 10/13/93. The mine
site received two overnight rain/snow storms on 10/11/93 and
10/12/93 which will probably bring an end to the construction
season in the draw for the year.
Work on the project began in early June of this year following
spring thaw and adequate drying to allow access to the area. As
noted in the schedule, (Appendix 4.6-M of the Permit) we are
currently in the second phase of the project which involves
construction of the check dams in the draw between Center Ridge and
West Ridge. This years work commenced with construction of Check
dam #12. Three Type 5 dams (#'s 12-14), two Type 6 dams (#'s 15 &
16) and two Type 7 structures (#'s 18 & 19) have been completed
this year (Figure 4.6-M1 and Table 4.6-M1 list design criteria for
the check dams). Check dam #20 is finished except for some final
grade work within the rocked channel and dam #21 has been roughed
in. To gain access to the draw in a manner that would disturb as
little reclaimed ground as possible the lower sections of terraces
feeding these structures were constructed. These partial terraces
were used for roadways to haul rip-rap material to the constructed
check dams. All of the completed structures have been checked and
meet the minimum design criteria set forth in the Permit document.
work next year, or perhaps in the late fall of this year if weather
allows, will commence with the completion of the check dams
commencing with finish work on dam numbers 20 and 21 and
construction of the two Type 8 structures (#'s 22 & 23).
