The topsoil will
be salvaged from an area approximately 800' x 300', approximately
5 ~ ~ acres. Based upon a salvage depth of 1.5 feet, approximately
13,.300 cy of topsoil will be removed and placed in a stockpile on
the east side of the area 2 draw. The topsoil stockpile will be
located on a west facing side slope and out of the drainage channel
of the draw. The topsoil will be seeded with the topsoil stockpile
stabilization seed mixture and a "topsoil" sign will be placed in
the stockpile.
The topsoil salvage area is located upgradient of sediment Pond D.
All of the drainage from the area in which the salvaging
activities will occur will flow into Pond D.
During the topsoil salvage operation, up to two 24 inch culverts
will be placed in the bottom of the draw to provide a temporary
crossing for the mobile equipment that will be used to salvage the
topsoil. Upon completion of the salvage operation the culverts
will be removed and the approved drainage configuration will be
reestablished.
Twentymile will be submitting a technical revision to the Division
which will modify the construction of the currently approved refuse
pile. It is anticipated the revision will be submitted within the
next 10 to 14 days. The revision will seek approval to decrease
the size of the stockpile and have the pile only constructed on the
west side of the Area 2 draw. The preliminary design indicates the
footprint of the to be approved refuse pile to be 46 acres. This
is significantly smaller than the currently approved pile. The
design will be similar to the currently approved refuse pile.
