.. `
COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, Water Quality Control Division
~, Rationale - Page 14 Permit No. CO-0043168
1. Monitorine: (Continued)
As indicated above in Table VI-4, the monitoring frequency for the
metals is on a weekly basis. If, after a year of monitoring data,
the metals concentrations are at low enough levels to qualify for
consideration of a less frequent monitoring frequency, then the
permittee should submit a permit amendment requesting the Division
to reevaluate the monitoring frequency for .the metals.
2. Reporting: Golden Hile Joint Venture must submit a Discharge
Monitoring Report (Dt4t) on a monthly basis to the Division. This
report should contain the required summarization of the test
results for parameters shown in Table VI-4 and Part I.B.1 of the
permit. See the permit, Part I,B for details on such submission.
3. Additional Monitorine and Reoortine - Four Time Analvsis: As
indicated in Part I.B.3 of the permit, a four time analysis is
required at discharge point 001 for Potentially Dissolved
Hexavalent Chromium and Potentially Uissolved Nickel. These two
parameters are required for the four time analysis because
concentrations of these two metals were detected (total chromium
0.009 mg/1, and total recoverable nickel 0.12 mg/1) in the mine
water at levels which warrant an additional. monitoring assessment
For further details, see Part I,B.3 (on page lc of the permitl.
D. Additional Terms and Conditions
1. iaterials Contairunent Plan The permittee will be required to
submit a Materials Containment Plan. This plan is to be submitted within
90 days of the effective date of the permit. See Part I.E. of the
permit.
E. Specific Compliance Requirements
1.
