Mr. Billy Owens
Page 4
along the western boundary of the slide area (as described in Task 2 above). Trapper
Mine plans to drill through the Q seam horizon and below and will possibly install
inclinometers at these locations so that future movement of the horizons below the slide
plane can be monitored. The pads for these drill sites will be constructed in daylight
hours and the drilling itself will also be done during daylight hours. The drill rig will be
removed from the sites as soon as possible although it may need to remain on-site over
night in order to complete the installations of the inclinometers. A positive means of
communication will be provided to the drilling crew and if significant cracks or other
signs of instability are noticed during inspections or while work is ongoing, the drill crew
will be instructed to immediately withdraw from the azea. A reliable means of egress will
be provided from each drill site.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please notify us at your earliest
convenience with regard to this request as we plan to commence this work as soon as the
required approvals are obtained. If you have questions or require further information
please contact me at 970-826-6122 or 970-326-5671 (cell).
Sincerely,
-~~ ,,--
Karl Koehler
Safety Manager, Trapper Mining Inc.
cc: Kathleen Kelleher, MSHA
Jim Mattern, TMI
Larry Treece, Sherman & Howard
MSHA Correspondence file
Enc.
