Your soil testin lan submitted Iovember 3, 1986
was well organized and contained all pertinent information requested, 1s
letter will serve as a follow-up to a phone conversation e y Smaldone
and Dan Idathews on the morning of November 12, 1986. The following is a
summary of comments by Dan and I:
Sample Site Locations and Parameters
A total of five different sites (EC-4, EC-6, EC-7, EC-9, EC-12) will be
sampled. Metals will 'oe analyzed only for sites EC-6 and EC-12.
Metals to be included in the analysis are copper, lead, molybdenum and
nickel. All five sites will be sa~~rpled for soil texture and particle
size distribution, pH, electrical conductivity, SAP., percent waste
material, and volume content of carbonaceous material.
Sampling Procedure
Three soil depths/site will be sampled. Soil depths will be 12, 30,
and 48 inches. Each soil sample will consist of a uniform volume.
Sample volume should be large enough to provide soil for all parameters
to be measured.
Testing ilethod
The AB-DTPA extraction method will be used for metals analysis only. A
saturated paste extract should be used for determination of SAR, pH,
and electrical conductivity. Analysis of soil texture and particle
size distribution (percent sand, percent silt, percent clay), percent
waste material, and volume content of carbonaceous material does not
require an extraction technique. Therefore, soil samples from sites
X23 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver Colorado 8C203 Tel. (3031 500-3507
