Cotter Corporation - C-SR-11 Mine
Stormwater Management Plan - Permit # COR-040029
February 14, 1994 - Page 4
Beth - The assessment of this dump revealed that the access road to the north
and west of the site prevents stormwater run-on. The flat gradient, porous soils
and extensive vegetative cover prevents stormwater runoff. Accordingly, all potential
runoff is contained within the pit.
2. Access Roads - The assessment of the access roads revealed that the extensive
vegetative coverage, porous soils and the moderately level grade retains the run
off from two of the three access roads. The third access road which has a potential
for stormwater runoff is the access road to the Ike U3, Ike #4 and the Brighton
Mines. The upper portion of the access road is controlled by existing BMPs,
the lower portion of the access road will be controlled by BMPs which will be
implemented at a later date.
Note: There is no outdoor equipment maintenance or chemical storage at
this site.
c. Preventive Maintenance
Inspections of the stormwater controls will be conducted on a regular basis which is
anticipated to be at least two times per year, or as needed in response to major storm
events. Preventative maintenance will be completed on an as needed basis.
d. Good Housekeeping
The following are some of the good housekeeping practices that are adhered to in order
to minimize the potential for stormwater contamination.
• Garbage and waste materials are picked up and disposed of regularly.
• Spills of oil and petroleum based products are cleaned up in a timely manner
using proper clean-up procedures.
e. Spill Prevention and Response Procedures
In the event ofa spill of significant quantities of materials which could affect stormwater
runoff from this site the SWMP administrator will be notified first.
f. Best Management Practices
1. By June, 1994, a silt fence will be erected south of the Ike #4 dump to reduce
erosion and prevent sediment delivery to state waters. An existing BMP at this
location is a natural containment dike above the mine dump which prevents stormwater
run-on from entering the dump.
