Mr. William C. York-Feirn 2
On January 17 and 18, 1992, Keeter Trucking hauled 436 tons of Cross mine
development ore from the Valmont Mill in Boulder to the Gold Hill Mill. COM, Inc.'s
on-site Mill Superintendent, J. Wayne Tatman, has asserted in his March 24, 1992, response
letter that Tom Hendricks sold him 400 tons of "monzonite" for $10.00 per ton. I understand
that the purchase price was actually $5,000. Mr. Tatman has stated on several occasions that
this material was being used in the Gold Hill Mill for pH control, and would have us believe
that this ore was used as a reagent in the milling process. Since I do not possess a degree in
alchemy, I find it difficult to understand just how this gold-silver ore from the Apache vein at
the Cross mine has been converted into a milling reagent. I do know that $5,000 would buy
enough soda ash to process 20,000 tons of ore at the proper pH levels. Since the Bueno ore
and a large part of the Cash mine stockpile had already been fed through the mill before Tom
Hendricks' "monzonite" arrived at the mill, one has to wonder what other ore was being
processed in the mill that necessitated the importation of such a costly reagent. In fact,
concentrates were produced from the milling of this ore, and this is nothing more than a
ridiculous subterfuge on the part of Mr. Tatman. I hope that the Mined Land Reclamation
Boazd treats this assertion by COM, Inc.'s Mil] Superintendent in the manner that it deserves.
Very truly yours,
Mark A.
