;_ ~
III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
•
GOLD HILL VENTURES
P.O. Box 1523
Longmont, Colorado 80502
(303) 651-2985
Mr. William C. York-Feirn
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Mr. York-Feirn,
~ECEIi~E.i~
MAR 2 5 1992
Mined Land
Reclamation ~,~~~~~on
March 25, 1992
This letter is Gold Hill Ventures' response to the Minerals Program Inspection Reports
that were filed following your November 26, 1991, and February 13, 1992, inspections of the
Gold Hill Mill facilities and the Cash mine permit area. In this letter, I will address the issue
of what ores were processed in the Gold Hill Mill while it has been operated by Colina Oro
Molina, Inc. under the direction of the on-site Mill Superintendent, Mr. J. Wayne Tatman.
To my knowledge, COM, Inc. trucked ore and some concentrates from the Bueno mine
and mill during the months of November and December, 1991. This material was processed
in the mill during these same months and in the first weeks of January. This ore was dumped
in front of and on top of low grade fines that had been brought up to the mill site during June
and July, 1988, from the Cash mine dump.
During the first week of January, 1992, I observed that COM, Inc. was beginning to
lift larger and larger amounts of Gold Hill Ventures' ore when they were moving the Bueno
ore to the mill's coarse ore bins. On January 16, 1992, I discovered that COM, Inc. had
removed nearly half of Gold Hill Ventures' ore stockpile. Approximately 70 tons of this
material could be seen in the covered coarse ore bin of the Gold Hill Mill. COM, Inc.
processed this ore without Gold Hill Ventures' consent, and the concentrates produced from
this ill-advised conversion of our ores to concentrates is now a matter of dispute between the
owners and the mill operators. I am attaching copies of the correspondence that this incident
produced.
Mr. J. Wayne Tatman's assertion in his March 24, 1992, response letter that "Except
for a few loads of rock from the Oscar mine to tune up the crushing circuit, the only ore that
was processed at the Gold Hill Mill came from the Bueno mine" is not supported by the facts.
I am also enclosing photographs of the mill site's ore stockpile area, which clearly show that
his company removed more than "a few loads of rock" from Gold Hill Ventures' ore stockpile.
Just so there is no confusion raised by Mr. Tatman's reference to the Oscar mine, I would like
to point out that the Gold Hill Mill building was constructed on top of the shallow caved shafts
of the Oscar mine. The development rock from the extensive Wynona mine workings were
flattened out to construct the ore stockpile area and used to build the ramp to the coarse ore
bins. The relationship of the Oscar patented lode claim to Gold Hill Ventures' other patented
lode claims is well described in the aforementioned correspondence.
