COLORADO WESTMORELAND INC.
P.O. Golder Associates visits have
concluded the need to stabilize this sliding area,
The orginial slide was mapped on page 2 of 10 - Geotechnical Conditions in
the Golder Associates permit drawings,
CWI surveyed the center line of the sliding area, This information was
forwarded to Golder Associates for toe buttress design, Because of the
over-abundance of rock material, the buttress is of a conservative size and
was not designed in any detailed manner, The buttress proposed is approxi-
mately 30 feet wide and approximately 40 feet high, Rased on the size of
the actual slide, approximately 60 to 100 feet of buttress will be con-
structed,
The buttress will be constructed of massive sandstone and basalt boulders.
Any excavation at the toe of the slide will be immediately followed by
placement of rock material,
In addition, dewateriny through the use of french drains may be completed at
the top of the slide area, CWI anticipates further site inspections by
Golder Associates for completion of proposed dewatering devises,
The toe buttress will be constructed to snatch the existiny East Roatcap
Creek alignment. No obstruction into the creek is anticipated,
I have enclosed a plan view of the proposed toe buttress along with a cross-
section in this area,
Once again I thank you for your assistance, If you have further questions
or comments, please contact me,
MSS/SV

Sincerel~y/,~ / ~ ~ ~ ,,/ ~ "
Matthew S, Sakurada
Manayer of Enyineering
