~ ~ SPECIAL CONDITIONS Coal Gulch Bond Forfeiture Project C-84-067 RN-MINES-320 PROJECT LOCATION The Coal Gulch site is located 4.6 miles west of Durango on the Durango West (1963) 7 1/2 minute quadrangle in the NE 1/4, NE 1/4 Section 21, and the NW 1/4, NW 1/4 Section 22, T35N, R10W. The site is accessed from State Highway 160 and is visible from State Highway 160. WORK SUMMARY The project work will include the moving and replacing approximately 91,000 cubic yazds of material against sidecuts produced by a previously active mining operation. The project will proceed by first placing waste material against the toe of the cuts. This will involve sorting riprap material. Following the removal and placement of the waste material against the cuts, designated on-site topsoil stockpiles will be distributed over the waste materials. Final grades will be directed at achieving proper drainage and controlling erosion including channel and furrow construction. An existing wetland area used for acid mine drainage treatment will be reconstructed including vegetation transplanting. All disturbed azeas will be revegetated. PRE-BID MEETING AND SITE SHOWING A man pre-bid meeting and site showing will be held at the southeast end of the Red Lion Inn parking lot, 501 Camino Del Rio, in Durango. This mandatory meeting will take place on September 28, 1993 at 9:00 a.m. The Pre-Bid Meeting is for the purpose of showing prospective bidders the work site and vicinity. Bidders aze advised to be prompt. A sign-in sheet will be available at the Pre- Bid meeting for firms to register their attendance. It is the bidder's responsibility to make certain their attendance is recorded on the sign-in sheet. Failure to sign-in or to attend the entire meeting will be cause for rejection of a bid. Bidders are cautioned that, notwithstanding any remarks or clarifications given at this meeting and site showing, all terms and conditions of the contract documents remain unchanged unless they aze changed by written amendment issued by the OWNER. if the answers to questions, or any amendment to the contract documents create ambiguities, it is the responsibility of the bidder to seek clarification prior to submitting a bid. BID OPENING DATE The bid opening date for this project is October 12, 1993 at 2:00 P.M. Please see Number 2 of the "General Conditions". A written tabulation of the Bid results will be available to those bidders who submit aself-addressed stamped envelope with their bid. Telephone requests cannot be honored because of time constraints.
