Hydrologic Cha~acte~ization <br />• Surface Water <br />- Rito Seco is a perennial stream with snowmelt the primary hydrologic <br />event. <br />- Five surface water sampling stations were established and monitored <br />(from upstream to downstream) RS-1, RS-2, RS-3 (tributary to the south), <br />RS-4 (dry tributary), and RS-5. <br />• Groundwater <br />- Originally three principle aquifers: (1) Precambrian bedrock, (2) Santa Fe <br />Formation, and (3) Rito Seco alluvium; now backfill is a fourth water- <br />bearing unit. <br />- Transmissivity of aquifers differs by orders of magnitude in the order <br />(from high to low) <br />• Backfill» Alluvium > Precambrian bedrock» Santa Fe Formation. <br />
