Dept. of Natural Resource
Dear Mr. Chen:
We understand that GEC Minerals, Inc. is in the process of updating its
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation permits to conform to new State regu-
lations. These regulations require special consideration where the
permitted operations are within 100 feet of a public road, particularly
in the use of County Road 94 for the Cherokee/Pittsburgh lease area.
This letter is written to confirm the following:
1) GEC has obtained the necessary approvals for the mine
from Fremont County, the authority with jurisdiction
over the adjacent roads.
2) These approvals were obtained by GEC through the Fremont
County Special Use Permit process (SUP-83-1). This pro-
cedure included notice to adjacent landowners, public
notice and ample opportunity for public participation in
a public hearing before the Fremont County Commissioners.
IVe hope that the above information is sufficient to meet the current
requirements of CMLR.
Sincerely,
~~ ~~^
Gale Decker, Commissioner
Fremont County
District ~2
GD/d
ROY CANTERBURY
District 7
