' EXISTING CONDITIONS
1
The existing site land use is primarily an existing, operating gravel pit and
1 concrete batch plant. It has a total area of approximately 58.5 acres and a
' gravel pit area of approximately 21.9 acres. The proposed addition to the
existing gravel pit is the Lucero Property to the north. The existing gravel pit
' operation probably can be extended into the Lucero Property, Tract 1-A, for an
' estimated additional net pit area of approximately 15.92 acres and has an
' estimated gravel layer 16 feet deep. The proposed lease area to the south, that
is currently under consideration, is the Glen Williams Allotment. The
' currently operating gravel pit probably can be extended into the Glen Williams
' Allotment and probably will have a net pit area of approximately 15.0 acres
and has an estimated gravel layer of 14 feet deep. The surrounding terrain on
' the west side of CR 521 has an elevation gain to the north making the Lucero
' Property higher than the existing pit by about 30 feet to 40 feet. The property
to the south is generally flat. There are rolling hills on the east side of CR 521
' in the vicinity of the site. The land uses surrounding the site include
' agricultural with some sparse rural residential.
1 Gosney & Sons, Inc. also operates two sites in Bayfield. One is approximately
' 0.5 acre used for fueling and parking and the other is approximately 0.5 acre
used as office and shop facilities. The operations of these sites are proposed
' 5
