' EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
' The consequences of traffic generated by the development of Gosney & Sons.
Inc. gravel pit expansion and operations consolidation are determined. The
' gravel pit is planned to be expanded by acyuiring the 27.95 acre Lucero
' property to the north and permitting the 23.87 acre Glen Williams Allotment
to the south. The current shop operations in Bayfield is to be relocated to the
' main gravel pit site approximately 2 miles south of Bayfield. The current
' business plan of Gosney & Sons, Inc. is to extract approximately 500,000 cu.
yds. from the expanded sites during the next 25 to 30 years. The combined
' operation at the gravel pitlconcrete batch plant and shop produces 140,768
' EALs over the next 20 years. This represents approximately 3.5% of the total
EALs on CR 521 over the 20 year period. The proportional share of the
$625,000 roadway improvement program that Gosney & Sons, Inc. is
' responsible for is $22,400. The Gosney & Sons, Inc. access road to CR 521
should incorporate both a right turn decel. lane and a right turn accel. lane.
' The intersection operates within nm•mal standards except for the egress left
t turn movement after 10 years. The trucks will experience some delay exiting
' the site northbound during peak traffic periods. It may be necessary to provide
some assistance in the form of flaggers during these time periods if the delay s
' become too long. This condition wi]l probably not exist unless there is
' significant expansion in the oil and gas industry in the general area.
' iv
1
