-----Original Message-----
From: Brown, Sandy
Sent: Friday, ]uly 23, 2004 8:35 AM
To: Pineda, Loretta
Cc: Dudash, Joe
Subject: Bear Mine Hot Spots
Importance: High
Loretta,
I was talking to Dave about several hot spots at the Bear Coal Mine. Joe and I conducted a bond release last week
and there is a potentially dangerous opening in addition to the hot spots. Steve Renner was out there last fall and
measured the surtace temperatures ranging from X200-400. Dave mentioned that AML had sent letters to the
landowners where the coal mine fires were observed that Steve has been monitoring. We would like to send similar
letters to the Bear Coal Mine, landowners and whoever else you included on the mailing (Dave said you might have
included Sheriff etc.). Will you please send me copies of the letters you sent as well as the entities that you sent them
to.
Thanks,
Sandy
