Reveaetation ear Standar tabular tvalue t* statistic
Riparian 2006 90% of 1,000 1.3277 571.1975
Comparison of the calculated t-statistic (t") for the standard with the respective tabular tvalue
indicates that 1"` is equal to or greater than t. This results in the conclusion that the cerformance
standard was met at the required significance level of a = 0.1 for the riparian revegetation unit in 2006.
Therefore, the woody Dlant densiri standards have been met with absolute confidence in both
reveaetation units in 2006.
3.6 Utility
Although a determination of utility is not mandated by permitting requirements, little argument can
be generated regarding the revegetated area's utility for the primary intended post-mining land use
(livestock grazing) as well as incidental use by wildlife. The increased utility of these revegetated areas is
evident from an analysis of the various data collected for cover, production, and diversity and from
observation of wildlife sign left routinely around the reclaimed area.
With regard to the measured variables, the increase in utility of the reclaimed area is self-evident.
The average total herbaceous cover of the grassland and riparian revegetation exhibited 244% and
129% of that found on the analogous reference areas in 2006, respectively. Average total herbaceous
production of the grassland and riparian revegetation exhibited 209% and 115% of that found on the
analogous reference area in 2006, respectively. Therefore, measured ground cover in the grassland unit
has been increased by nearly two and a half times that of the reference area while measured production
has been increased over two times. As one would expect, cover and production increases in the riparian
unit are more modest.
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, INC.
