Reveaetation Year Reference Area tabular tvalue t* statistic
Grassland 2006 Grassland Ref. Area 1.3095 13.5417
Riparian 2006 Riparian Ref. Area 1.3077 11.0220
Comparison of the calculated t-statistic (t*) for the respective reference area with the respective
tabular tvalue indicates that in each case C is equal to or greater than t. This results in the conclusion
that the oertormance standard was met at the required significance level of a = 0.1 for both reveaetation
areas in 2006.
3.3 Total Herbaceous Production
Total herbaceous production is another of the main variables that must pass revegetation success
evaluations in both community types in accordance with Rule 3.03. Review of Table 1 and Chart 2
indicates that total herbaceous production for both revegetated areas substantially exceeds 90°l0 of the
value for the analogous reference area in 2006. These comparisons are most readily evident on Chart 2;
however, comparisons of the "tabular" versus "calculated" t-statistics on Table 1 also indicate strong
success given the "reverse-null hypothesis t-test" indicated by the guidelines. The decision rules for this
test were:
If t" < til-o;"-i m.i ,conclude failure to meet the performance standard, and
If t" ? ttl-o;°-1 m,~, conclude that the performance standard was met (for a = 0.1).
The tabular t values for an a = 0.1 and n-1 degrees of freedom (df.) and calculation of the
comparison t* statistic for each community type for the 2006 comparisons are as follows:
Reveaetation Year Reference Area tabular tvalue t* statistic
Grassland 2006 Grassland Ref.
