3.0 RESULTS
The reclaimed area that is the subject of this bond release application was revegetated prior to 1986
and its subsequent history has been documented in the approved reclamation plan and annual reports
submitted to the DRMS over the years and is not presented again in this document. To facilitate an
evaluation of revegetation success, comparison has been made with parameters from the approved
reference area and / or standards as appropriate.
Vegetation data collected utilizing accepted scientific means and statistical analyses from both the
reclaimed areas as well as that collected from the reference areas during 2006 have been organized,
summarized, and presented on a variety of tables and charts in Appendix A. Plates 1 - 10 are presented
in Appendix A as well.
3.1 General
Review of the summary data and comparisons presented on Table RS 1 indicates that the
A~olicant's revegetation efforts for the Blue Ribbon Mine have passed all aoDliwble comparisons in
accordance with Rule 3.03. Release of Performance Bonds as well as those of the promulgated
Vegetation Guidelines (ADril 18. 1995,x. Therefore, the Blue Ribbon Mine meets all of the vegetation
criteria for release of Phase III bonds for the first vear (2006) of the two-vear evaluation.
3.2 Total Herbaceous Cover
Total herbaceous cover is one of the main variables that must pass revegetation success evaluations
in both community types in accordance with Rule 3.03. Review of Table 1 and Chart 1 indicates that
total herbaceous cover for both revegetated areas substantially exceeds 90% of the value for the
analogous reference area in 2006. These comparisons are most readily evident on Chart 1; however,
comparisons of the "tabular" versus "calculated" t-statistia on Table 1 also indicate strong success given
the "reverse-null hypothesis Etest" indicated by the guidelines. The decision rules for this test were:
If i" < til_o;,,l,x,i ,conclude failure to meet the performance standard, and
If t' >_ til_o;,,l a,i, conclude that the pertormance standard was met (for a = 0.1).
The tabular t values for an a = 0.1 and n-1 degrees of freedom (df.) and calculation of the
comparison t* statistic for each community type for the 2006 comparisons are as follows:
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, INC.
