'resulting in only 2.16 acre-feet of water used and consumed for dust control; and less
than 5,000 tons (rather than the 140, 000 tons estimated) of mined product was shipped
out; thus resulting in only 0.11 acre-feet of water lost with the mined product. Therefore,
the total consumptive use for the period of April 2002 thru 20 April 2003 wes only 3.77
acre-feet, 5.54 acre-feet less than the allowed 9.31 acre-feet as stated in the approval
letter. Due to other permits, the actual operation period was from 28 AUG to 22 OCT
2002, much shorter than planned.
We anticipate that our operations during the 2003 operating season will be closer to that
proposed in the amended Substitute Water Supply Plan, which would be: Evaporetlon
from open water estimated at 4.54 ac-B-feet; wafer shipped with product estimated at
4.12 acre-feet, water used for washing of product estimated at 1.62 acre-feet, and dust
control using an estimated 4.36 aces-feet; for a total consumptive use of 14.64 acre-
feet.
This may change to a significantly lower number based on a number of factors,
including a continued low water table along the river, .thinner overburden, and more
efficient operations, even if demand is at or above the estimated 140, 000 tons/year.
If you have furtherquestions, please contact either.
Aryol Brumley, Manager, Four States Aggregates LLC, 970-565-3388, or
Nathan A. Barton, PE, DEE, Environmental Engineer, 970-218-4133.
Four States Aggregates LLC
