Box 41
Rockvale, CO 81244
RE: Time Extension - Hawk's Nest Mine East Area Seeding Contract;
Bid Cost Survey, Large Open Pit Backfill Job
Dear Mr. Kessler:
This letter is a follow up to our telephone conversation a few weeks ago
regarding site conditions at the Hawk's Nest Mine which have prevented
starting work on seeding the areas specified in Project Number
RN-GOAL-MINES-6. Due to deep snow cover, the deadline for completion of this
project is hereby extended to Mav 30, 1992. The Division will be visiting the
site on a monthly basis and we will let you know when it appears that site
conditions become suitable for beginning the seeding work.
Additionally, the Division very much appreciates your response last fall to
our Bid Cost Survey for large, open pit backfill jobs. The information you
provided will help the Division be able to more accurately estimate earthwork
costs for this type of work. As a follow up to the original survey, we have
prepared a brief questionnaire (copy attached) regarding what probable range
of bid prices, as opposed to a single "best guess" price, you feel would be
appropriate for the same job given the amount of information provided and not
having had the opportunity to visit the site. What the Division is looking
for is some indication from you as to what a lowest probable and highest
probable lump sum bid price would be for the example backfilling job (Marr
Mine - Kerr Coal Co.) given the information provided in the original survey
(copy attached) regarding site conditions, material characteristics, and job
layout. A stamped return envelope has been enclosed for your convenience.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at (303) 866-3567 if you have any
questions or comments.
Sincerely,
L
/~'
Tom D.
