Appendix A-Vegetation S°mplingjor 2003
relative cover value between 5 and 60 percent. The permit also stipulates that there is no species diversity
standard for the AVF Reclaimed Area.
The species diversity standard on the Rangeland Reclaimed Areas was achieved during the 2005 sampling
event. The three cool-season grasses that satisfy the permit standard (with corresponding relative cover
values) are: smooth brome (17.21 percent), western wheatgrass (14.75 percent), and slender wheatgrass
(6.97 percent). The warm-season grasses standard is met by blue grama (6.15 percent) and sideoats grama
(5.33 percent). The perennial forb standard is satisfied by alfalfa (5.74 percent). Table A-3 summarizes
the most abundant species sampled in the Rangeland Reclaimed Area.
TABLE A-3
GOLDEN EAGLE MINE -
RANGELAND RECLAIMED AREAS
SUMMARY OF RELATIVE COVER VALUES; 2005 POINT-INTERCEPT TRANSECTS
Reclaimed Perennial Relative Perennial Relative
Area Grasses Cover % Forbs 8 Shrubs Cover
Rangeland Smooth brome 17.21 Alfalfa 5.74
Western wheatgrass 14.75 Fringed sage 4.51
Slender wheatgrass 6.97 Cutleaf evening primrose 2.46
Blue grama 6.15
sideoats grama 5.33 Biennial Forb
Little bluestem 3.28 Yellow sweet clover 1926
A complete list of all vegetative species sampled and observed during the 2005 sampling event, including
scientific names, is presented on Table A-12.
292 -Golden Eagle P2~ase III (10.07.05) A-6
