Por pheasants, the inclusion
of undisturbed nesting cover is vital and should be
included in plans for habitat development. This is
especially true in areas of intensive agriculture.
Rangeland wildlife, such as deer and antelope, can be
assisted and encouraged by proper livestock grazing
management and range reseeding where needed.
This soil is not suited for urban or recreational
development due to the flood hazard.
Vegetation
General Characteristics
The subject area has a considerable amount and di-
versity of vegetation. Large cottonwoods along the Cache La
Poudre River thrive in considerable numbers, mixing with
willows and others. Types of vegetation are cited above by
the U. S. Soil Convervation Service.
Revegetation
The shoreline areas- (banks) will be properly sloped
(minimum 3:1) and revegatated immediately to prevent water
and wind erosion. Progosed trees to be planted will consist
of Russian Olive, Sunburst Locust and American Plumb. Trees
will be planted in groups o£ 3 to 5 and appropriate spacing
for future growth; existing vegetation will be preserved in
all areas along the Cache La-POUdre River.
-10-
