Mr. Jim Herron
January 19, 1981
Page 2
The area will be seeded and, if needed, fertilized
to provide a ground cover similar to the surrounding
areas. The estimated cost for completing the
reclamation process at the present time is
$ 1,000.00 to $1,500.00.
4. Subsidence Monitoring: Since no structures or
renewable resource lands, defined as aquifers and
areas for the recharge of aquifers, areas for
agricultural or silvicultural production of food
r_ and fibers, and pasturelands, exist within the
permit area, no subsidence monitoring is reouired.
Please see the attached letter from Coe, Van Loo
and Associates.
5. Alluvial Valley Floors: The attached map indicates
areas within a two mile radius of the permit area
which show potential for flood irrigation of sub-
irrigation. Because the groundwater from the Ohio
Creek Mine flows into the Nu Mine, areas upstream
from the Ohio Creek drainage pattern are included.
The applicant requests a negative determination
• showing no material damage to alluvial valley floors
for the following reasons:
a. A sedimentation pond has been constructed to
control surface runoff which passes through the
disturbed permit area.
b. All groundwater is being contained in the mine
and flows underground to the northwest (through
the Nu Mine) with the dip of the strata. This water
has been tested during preparation of the O. C. Coal
Mine Environmental Report (Exhibit a) and found to
be of acceptable quality.
If we can provide any more information, please give me a call.
Very truly yours,
GINGERY ASSOCIATES, INC.
~~~~w~~~
Ronald R.
