Box 1430, Palisade, Colorado 81526, for a permit Revision to a Permit <br />Application to conduct Coal Mining in Colorado, Case number C-0'+1-81. Tha exact <br />location of the proposed mining operations is contained in information submitted <br />to you by Powderhorn Coal Company. <br />'The; proposed mining activity is in the immediate vicinity of a fairly well popu- <br />lated area. On April 1, 1982, residents and property owners in the Rapid Creek <br />area mgt with Air. Bruno Redolfi, Chief Engineer for Powderhorn Coal Company, <br />and for. James K. Greenlee, an official for Wasters Associated Coal, Managing <br />Partner for the organization. These representatives explained to the Rapid Creek <br />area residents anti property owners their plans under the Application for mining <br />and expansion of facilities at Cameo. _ <br />^t ha area to be mined consists. of approximately 4800 acres, a major portion of <br />which is owned by the United States Government. The officials assured us there <br />would be no surface disturbance.;~and no portals would be installed in the area <br />to be mined. All extractions will be accomplished through the existing portals. <br />Ho*,rover, they did advise that it is possible a ventilation shaft will tie in- <br />stalled with appropriate fan to provide forced air into the mina. i~'r. Greenlee <br />advised that necessary procedures would be followed to assure control. of noise <br />pollution from the potential fari and Telated equipment. <br />Water from Rapid Creek and Cpttonwood Creek is used by at least seven farms in <br />the P,apid Creek area, and at least two residences utilize water from Springs <br />for domestic purposes. The continued availability of this water, unimpaired in <br />quality and quantity, is essential. <br />We, the undersigned residents and property owners of Rapid Creek, request the <br />following stipulations be made a part of any revised permit issued to the Powder- <br />horn Coal,Companyi <br />1. No surface disturbance will occur in the area involved, including damage <br />due to subsidence. All coal will be extracted through existing portals, <br />excluding Blue Flama Mine and Go Boy Mine portals. <br /> <br />
