COLVERT
SP[C PL COONS[L
This is to confirm our telephone conversation of earlier
today. We would like to meet with you and Roger Funston of
the Mined Land Reclamation Staff to discuss the concerns the
City of Lakewood has with respect to the following matters:
1. The potential opening of Aquifers and the liability
of the City if drainage problems result therefrom.
2. I~Thether a policy could be established where park
land would be used for mining only once, i.e., total
extraction, at which time the lease would be assigned
to the City so that it would no longer be worked.
3. Participation by the City in approving plans for
proposed final grading for the area to be mined.
4. The legal description in Exhibit A of the permit
application includes approximately 1500 acres while
other parts of the permit application indicate only
6 acres will be affected by the operation.
5. ~9hether the City could limit access to Alameda and
be assured it would be held harmless for accidents
involving users of the City's parks.
