April 28, 1993 Cyprus orchard Valley Coal Company (COVCC)
submitted the permit application package
(PAP) under the approved Colorado State
Program to the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology (DMG) for a permit revision for
the Orchard Valley Mine.
May 6, 1993 Colorado DMG determined that the PAP was
administratively complete for public review
and comment.
May 19, 1993 The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM) received the PAP.
May 27, 1993 The Bureau of Land Management provided its
findings and recommendations on the approval
of the mining plan.
• June 9 , 1993 COVCC published in the Delta County
Independent the fourth consecutive weekly
notice that its complete PAP was filed with
Colorado DMG.
October 7, 1993 The State Historic Preservation Office
provided its comments on the mining plan.
July 30, 1993 Colorado DMG approved the PAP.
August 3, 1993 OSM received Colorado DMG's final Proposed
Decision and Findings of Compliance.
September 28, 1993 The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service provided
its final consultation comments on the
mining plan.
October 1993 OSM's Western Support Center recommended
that the mining plan be approved.
