1
1
8.0 EYPLORATION METHODS
1
The exploration methods utilized will be essentially the same as those employed by
' Western Fuels during the 1985 snd 1986 drilling on Explorstion License C-41127.
Site specific stipulations contsined as Section lla through llp from the previous
' drilling progrsm under Exploration License C-41127 are incorporated in this
exploration plan and application for Exploration License and will be adhered to.
' 8.1 Equipment
LJ
1

1

1
t
One contractor-supplied drilling unit will be sufficient to complete the drilling
progrsm within the scheduled time period. .4 bssic drilling unit consists of s
Gardner Denver 2500 or equivalent air-water combinstion drill mounted on a tandem
sale truck, drill-pipe trailer or truck, auxiliary air compressors and tools, s
water truck and a supporting pickup truck.
8.2 Ssfety and Protection of Environment
All personnel will be instructed in techniques to prevent accidental fires.
Portable fire extinguishers will be svsilsble in sll drill rigs and vehicles.
Blow-out preventers should not be necessary since no gss occurrences were reported
during previous drilling programs in the srea.
The chosen access routes coupled with proposed reclamation will minimize soil
erosion. During the time proposed for drilling, there will be little or no
surfsce water in the area. h4ud pits will be dug at each location to receive water
thst may be producted from each hole. The drill hole plugging procedure will
prevent pollution of any ground roster intercepted. Damage to sir quality, wildlife
snd wildlife hsbitat sre unlikely due to the proposed limited sccess snd short
term nature of the exploration progrsm. Hazards to public heslth snd safety are
essentislly non-existent due to the nature of the equipment and the remote loca-
tion.
8

1
