<br />3.0 NOTICE OF INVITATION <br />t <br />Upon the Piling oP this application for an Exploration License of the described <br />' ayes, snd sfter approvsl by an authorized BLM officer, Western Fuels-Utah, Inc. <br />will publish a Notice of Invitation in the Rangely Times once per week for two <br />' consecutive weeks. This notice will invite the public to participate in the <br />exploration program under the license on a pro rata cost sharing basis. Copies of <br />' the notice will be filed with the appropriate BLM officer at the time of <br />publication. <br />' 4.0 GEOGRAPHY <br />4.1 Climate <br />' The climate of the area is clsssed as semi-arid continental. Mean summer tempera- <br />ture in the Rsngely area is about 67 degrees F. R4esn winter tempersture is sbout <br />29 degrees F. Precipitstion aversges 8.93 inches annually. Approximately 40 <br />percent of this occurs during the months of November through April, primsrily in <br />the form of snow. <br />1 <br />4.2 Lsnd Use <br />' Lsnd use in the proposed exploration license ares consists of wildlift habitat <br />' year round snd sheep grazing during the winter months, December through April. <br />t 9.3 Soils, Vegetation and Wildlife <br />Soils are derived from ssndstones snd shsles. Occssionslly the soil profile msy <br />' exhibit considersble interbedding of parent msterisls. Much of the sres has thin <br />topsoil consisting primsrily of sandy loam. <br />' Bottom land dr sinages sre heavily covered with sagebrush. Sandy soils on higher <br />' ground sre covered with sagebrush, juniper trees, native grasses and crested <br />tvheatgrass. The highest slopes are densely covered with junipers and scattered <br />' pinyon pine. Native grasses sre also common on these slopes. The area provides <br />4 <br />
