Simpson <br />Colorado Department Of Health <br />Water Quality Control Division <br />4210 East 11th Avenue <br />Denver, CO 80220 <br />RE: NPDES Permit CO-0027145; Designation of Discharge Point <br />for Post-Mining Area <br />Dear Don: <br />In accordance with the provisions of NPDES Permit CO-0027154, CYCC is <br />applying for designation of discharge point 010 at Mine No. 3 to allow discharge <br />from a post-mining area. The discharge is to be released from the Mine No. 3 <br />Detention Basin, which is designed to contain and treat the runoff resulting <br />from a 10-year, 24-hour event. The receiving stream is Middle Creek, tributary <br />to Trout Creek, tributary to the Yampa River. The discharge will be treated to <br />meet effluent limitations applicable to post-mining areas as defined in Part <br />III, Section C of the NPDES Permit. Monitoring will be conducted weekly and <br />reported quarterly in Discharge Monitoring Reports. <br />Enclosed is information on the 10-year, 24-hour precipitation event, the <br />volume of runoff resulting from the 10-year, 24-hour precipitation event, and <br />the gauge station being used to record the event. Designs for the Mine No. 3 <br />Detention Basin are enclosed. <br />The location of these facilities is shown on the enclosed map. <br />Vert ification of this documentation may be obtained from the Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Division. <br />CYCC is required to submit an application for designation of discharge <br />points 90 days prior to the proposed time of discharge. No such discharge is <br />expected until March of 1985. <br />
