' The maximum disturbance in the crushed stone azea is 48 acres according to the following azeas:
48 acres -crushed stone area
' 16 acres -plant and processing site
7 acres -active primary mining azea
3 acres -secondary color mining area
' 3 acres -secondary color mining area
8 acres -overburden excavated area
8 acres -reclamation azea
' 3 acres -reseed area
3.D.2 Cut Stone
Exploratory drilling showed the designated cut stone azea as having the most color variation,
' which is an important factor in decorative building stone.
The cut stone operation will be low volume and will produce a custom product for each
' individual order. No blasting will be used to loosen the stone.
The area of disturbance due to the removal of the cut stone is not expected to be greater than 12
' acres. See Section 3.B.2. Stone cutting will occur in two to four locations within the immediate
area of the operation. Each cutting location will be about an acre in size. Each area will have a
particulaz stone color or texture in order to suit the customer's demand. The stone will be cut
from the deposit then loaded into trucks and hauled off-site. The extraction plan map includes a
schematic drawing of the cut stone facility as well as a schematic drawing of how mining and
' reclamation will progress to limit the area of disturbance.
3.D.3 Reclamation
' Reclamation will be concurrent with excavation and CMI is committed to keeping the area of
disturbance from mining and processing below 60 acres at any one time.
1 The proposed reclamation plan meets the requirements of Rule 3 in the 1996 DMG Construction
Material Rules and Regulations as follows:
' Gradrng
' Grading will be done to prevent erosion and provide stabilized slopes suitable for planting with
rangeland grasses. All slopes left by the mining operation will be no steeper than 3H:1 V.
Grading materials will be native overburden and topsoil. Final grading and reseeding will be
done immediately after rough grading of overburden and topsoiling has been completed.

1
' 18
